This study aimed to identify the level of emotional intelligence among secondary school students and its relationship to certain educational and social variables (gender, grade, specialization, and residential area). The descriptive-analytical approach was adopted. The study population consisted of all secondary school students in the Zamzam and Abu Qurain areas (369 students), and a simple random sample of 40 students (16 males, 24 females) was selected. A 30-item emotional intelligence questionnaire was used as the research tool after verifying its suitability. Results showed that the general mean of emotional intelligence among students was 2.80 (relative weight 70.1%), which is statistically significantly higher than the hypothetical mean of 2.5, indicating a moderate level (sometimes applies). The results also revealed no statistically significant differences in emotional intelligence due to gender. The study recommends paying attention to developing emotional intelligence starting from early educational stages and conducting further studies on other social groups.
