Abstract

The Iranian nuclear program and its impact on the Middle East. Iran is recognized as a regional power holding influence in the Middle East. The Iranian nuclear program is considered a major issue that plagues the region and affects its security. Iran's acquisition of nuclear capability would significantly increase its power regionally. This would pose a threat to American interests and Israel's security, serving as a nuclear deterrent against Israel and breaking its monopoly on nuclear capability. Furthermore, it would lead to an imbalance in the strategic power equilibrium of the region in favor of Iran and its allies. Consequently, in light of evolving events, Iran recognizes the vital role of power in safeguarding its national security from local and regional security challenges and threats, and in possessing deterrent capabilities against potential adversaries. This necessitates developing its defense capabilities in terms of technological and technical sophistication and the size of its armaments.
