Abstract

This study examines the social dimensions of the physician-patient relationship and their profound implications for the therapeutic process at Bani Walid General Hospital. The research aims to explore how social interactions, effective communication, and mutual trust between healthcare providers and recipients influence clinical outcomes and patient compliance. Utilizing a descriptive-analytical approach, the study was conducted on a purposive sample of physicians and patients within the hospital. Data were collected through structured interviews and questionnaires designed to measure the quality of social engagement and its impact on the healing journey. The findings reveal a significant correlation between the quality of the interpersonal relationship and the efficiency of the treatment path. Key results indicate that positive social rapport reduces patient anxiety, enhances diagnostic accuracy through better information sharing, and encourages adherence to medical instructions. Conversely, communication barriers and social distance were found to hinder recovery and diminish satisfaction levels. The study concludes that the therapeutic process is not merely a technical medical encounter but a complex social interaction that requires strengthening the humanistic aspects of healthcare. Recommendations include integrating communication skills training for medical staff and fostering a patient-centered environment to improve the overall quality of health services in the local context.
