The factors leading to the phenomenon of illegal immigration from the perspective of social work and ways to deal with it

Abstract

This study aims to highlight the factors leading to the phenomenon of illegal immigration from the perspective of social work and ways to deal with it, as it represents a serious social phenomenon that threatens source, transit, and reception countries. The importance of this research lies in discussing this critical issue, particularly as it impacts state policies due to the loss of human capital, political instability, and heavy security burdens. The methodology is based on a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing secondary data and official reports. The findings indicate that the phenomenon is driven by complex economic, political, social, and geographical factors, most notably widespread poverty, unemployment, internal conflicts, and weak border controls. The study recommends enhancing regional cooperation, supporting sustainable economic development in source countries, and activating the developmental and clinical roles of social work within reception and transit nations.
