تدرس هذه الدراسة اللغة الإنجليزية المعاصرة من خلال مجموعات نصوص كبيرة لتحديد أنماط الاستخدام والتغيرات التي طرأت عليها. نحلل التوزيع العالمي للغة الإنجليزية باستخدام بيانات المجموعات النصية وإطار دائرة كاشرو الداخلية/الخارجية/المتوسعة. نستكشف الاتجاهات المعجمية (الكلمات الجديدة، الاقتباسات) والتحولات النحوية (القواعد غير الرسمية، الأفعال الناقصة) عبر الأنواع الأدبية (الأكاديمية، المنطوقة، الإلكترونية، والروائية). باستخدام المجموعات النصية الرئيسية (COCA، BNC، NOW، GloWbE)، نجد أدلة على تنامي الطابع غير الرسمي وعولمة اللغة الإنجليزية، مع ما يترتب على ذلك من آثار على التدريس والاستخدام الاجتماعي. تُبرز النتائج تأثير التكنولوجيا ووسائل الإعلام على اللغة، وتقترح اتجاهات للبحوث المستقبلية.
